The Scott W. Lucas Bridge
Havana Illinois Series

The Scott W. Lucas Memorial bridge, built in 1936, carries US Route 136, IL 97, and IL 78 over the Illinois River in Havana, Illinois. It is named for Scott Wike Lucas (1892-1968), who was a two-term Democratic United States Senator (1939-1951), and the United States Senate Majority Leader from 1948 to 1950.
Lucas was born on a farm near Chandlerville, IL, practiced law in Havana, and is interred in Havana’s Laurel HIll Cemetery.
